RUNAWAYS

The Runaways / Queens of Noise (2-for-1) RVCD-278

For the first time on one CD, Raven presents two supercharged albums from the original bad girls of American rock ‘n’ roll – THE RUNAWAYS. Their debut LP for Mercury The Runaways (1976) and its follow-up Queens of Noise (1977) defined a generation with a hard rock-glitter-punk sound that still resonates to this day. The Runaways were the first all-girl rock band that mattered, spiritual godmothers to everyone from Girlschool and Vixen to L7 and the Donnas... and seminal punk rockers to boot. Led by the teenage Joan Jett, The Runaways played loud, reckless, guitar-driven rock ‘n’ roll – brash, amateurish and sexually charged in equal measure.

The debut album comes charging out of the blocks with the hyper-kinetic teen anthem ‘Cherry Bomb’ followed by more tales of teenage lust and rebellion in ‘You Drive Me Wild’ and ‘Blackmail’. The follow up continued the trashy tradition with the power-drive title track, ‘Born to be Bad’ and ‘Neon Angels on the Road to Ruin’. This 22-track, 77-minute blast is rounded out by two bonus tracks from their third album, ‘School Days’ and ‘Trash Can Murders’. Jett went on to international success with pop-metal hits including ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll’ while lead guitarist Lita Ford released a series of ballsy heavy metal albums in the 1980s, but for many this is where it all began. With detailed liner notes, great photos and superb audio quality.
